SHINee to Hold High-Security Concert in London

The five-member Korean idol group SHINee is set to perform in London later today, as they have been invited to open for the 6th annual London Korean Film Festival at Odeon West End Theater.

Because SHINee's hour-long performance marks one of the first major K-pop concerts to be held in London, security has become a main concern. Event organizer, Jeon Hye Jung of the Korean Cultural Center UK, supposedly has ordered a squad consisting of a minimum of 12 security guards to patrol around the theater's perimeter.

"The theater said that it won't let us perform there if we don't come up with security plans similar to the ones the theater had for the recent visit of movie star George Clooney," Jeon disclosed earlier today in a statement which speaks to the continuously and rapidly growing international fandom of K-pop.

It has been reported that such an overwhelming response to the event greatly surpassed the initial expectations of the venue. The theater's website crashed only minutes after tickets went on sale, and organizers were forced to request a number of last-minute security measures due to the large amount of potential attendees. Allegedly, the Odeon West End Theater has never experienced such a response to any event in the past, proving that the Hallyu wave is indeed affecting every corner of the world.
