A man and a woman are still being questioned about the murder of a 60-year-old man in Newport.

The 60-year-old's body was found in the city early on Saturday, with police believing he was the victim of a serious assault.

A 19-year-old man has been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Two other people, a man of 25 and a woman of 23, from Newport, remain in custody, said police.

Gwent Police believe the man who died may have been hit by a
vehicle while lying in the road, in Broad Street in the Pill area of the
city.

A further four people, two men, aged 22 and 44, and two women, 18 and 46, are still being held over suspected driving offences.

They have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by
careless and inconsiderate driving and failure to report a road traffic
collision.

A spokeswoman said on Sunday: "We continue to appeal for
witnesses to the incident, which happened between 02:00 and 04:00 BST in
the Broad Street area of Pill. Please contact 101 with any
information."

Broad Street will continue to be closed to traffic while investigations continue.

The area has been cordoned off and house-to-house and forensic inquiries are being carried out.
