A 14-year-old boy has been found stabbed to death in a park in north London.

Officers found Leroy James in Ponders End Recreation Ground in Enfield after being called there at about 17:30 BST on Wednesday.

Leroy, of Edmonton, was dead when officers arrived at the scene. He had a stab wound, police said.

The teenager was found in the middle of the park, next to a concrete wall, police said. No arrests have been made.

His next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held later at Haringey mortuary.

Det Ch Insp Caroline Goode said: "We urgently need to trace
anyone who was in the park around that time on Wednesday afternoon, and
who may have seen the incident in which Leroy was stabbed.

"At this early stage we retain an open mind on the circumstances of the assault, and do need the public's assistance."
